Consolidating your Passbook Account is easier than ever

We've made it quick, secure and easy to switch your Passbook Account into an Integrated Account. You'll enjoy the same privileges, plus a range of newly added conveniences. Simply do so via the HSBC HK App in minutes.

We've simplified the steps to consolidate your Passbook Account into an Integrated Account. The whole process can now be completed within the HSBC HK App, in a few minutes.

Once you've moved over to an Integrated Account, you can check your balance, make transfers, or receive payments on the app. And same as before, you'll have a record of everything – accessible to you 24/7.

Step 1

Log on to the HSBC HK App. On the home screen, select your Passbook Savings Account.

Step 2

Tap "Consolidate Passbook Account".

Step 3

Confirm that your Passbook Account will be closed and migrated to your preferred Integrated Account upon submission[@wtb-passbook-setup-account].

Step 4

Review the summary and submit your request.

Select "View accounts" on your home screen.
Pick the Passbook Account you need to consolidate from the Account Details page. Select "View details".

Frequently Asked Questions

Once you've submitted your request via the HSBC HK App, we'll close your Passbook Account after 30 calendar days, counting from your request date. If that day is not a business day, the closure will happen on the following business day. You can continue to use the Passbook Account as usual until the closure date.

If you have a scheduled payment that falls within the consolidation period, the payment may be processed from your Passbook Account (if still active) or from your selected account after consolidation. Please ensure sufficient funds are available in both accounts during this period.

As we consolidate your account, we'll transfer your Passbook Account balance and accrued interest when the account closes after 30 calendar days.

Also, we'll transfer these services after you submit your consolidation request:

Within 1 business day

Time deposit settlement account

Within 2 business days

Recurring services, such as:
- HSBC credit card, mortgage and personal loan
- HSBC Life insurance
- Outward payment via Standing Instructions

Within 6 business days

Outward Direct Debit Authorisations (DDA), including utility bills, insurance premiums, and more

Note that some merchants may require you to notify them separately about amending the DDA. If applicable, please contact the merchants to confirm.

You have to update third party merchants on payment details with your new account number.

If you've set up the following payment instructions for your passbook account, they'll become invalid upon your Passbook Account consolidation and closure.

Once your account is consolidated, register your new account number for FPS payments. Next, update any third party services about your new account number for:

Inward payments

Government allowances
Salary account
Dividends or bonuses
Rental income
Forward-dated time deposit placements

Outward payments

One-off or forward-dated payments
Payments set up via PPS
Merchant-initiated Electronic Direct Debit Authorisation (eDDA) (for example, topping up your eWallets or Octopus cards, making transfers to other banks or financial institutions, or paying the Hong Kong Jockey Club)

After your Passbook Account is closed, you will no longer be able to view your account history online. We suggest that you review, retrieve, and download the transaction history of your Passbook Account via the HSBC HK App or HSBC Online Banking for your record before its closure. After account closure, you may contact us at a branch, by calling us, or via online chat to request a copy of your Passbook Account history.

The passbook consolidation feature is not included in HSBC HK App's 'forced update' (where you won't be able to see this feature without updating). This means that you'll need to be on the latest version of the app, in order to be able to use the "Consolidate Passbook Account" feature.

Please ensure your app is updated to version 3.67 or above, and try again.
