Credit Card Key Facts Statement (PDF)

You'll need to settle your Hong Kong dollar (HKD) and renminbi (RMB) account balances separately. If you overpay on one account, it won't be credit to the other account.

If you repay your RMB account in Hong Kong dollars, we'll convert the payment amount to renminbi at the prevailing exchange rate, as determined by us, on the payment processing date. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, we recommend that you ensure you have enough funds available to make the repayment. Otherwise, you may incur finance and/or other charges.

'Assist Services' refer to our overseas medical, travel assist and concierge services:

• Emergency medical assistance can provide you with medical advice over the phone, refer you to clinics or hospitals, and arrange hospital admission upon request. If needed, it can also arrange for your family to visit you or transfer you to a centre of medical excellence.
  
• Emergency travel assistance can refer you to the appropriate authorities if you lose your luggage, passport or credit cards while travelling. In an emergency, it can also assist you in booking flights or hotels, interpreting or sending messages to your family. 
• Concierge service can recommend restaurants to you, and help you make restaurant, hotel and flight reservations. It can also assist you in delivering flowers and gifts to your family and friends.

If you're an existing HSBC customer who holds a payroll account with us and an HKID card, you won't need to provide any supporting documents.

If you would like to set up a payroll account before applying for a credit card with us, you can do so by completing an instruction form for setting up / transfer of salary autopay (PDF).

Other customers will need to provide:

1. a copy of their HKID card—if you do not hold one, please provide a copy of your passport and employment contract with a contract period of at least 9 months from the date of submitting your application
2. proof of income or assets—depending on your income situation:

• regular income earners: your latest 1-month bank book / statement / eStatement / online transaction history (showing your name, account number and monthly income) or latest 1-month salary slip
• irregular income earners or part-timers: your latest bank book / statement / eStatement / online transaction history (showing your name, account number and monthly income) or salary slips from over the last 3 months
• self-employed: your latest tax demand note or latest 3-month bank book / statement / eStatement / online transaction history (showing the company name, account number and transaction history), current Business Registration Certificate, proof of ownership of the business and tax returns from the previous 2 years
• other: your latest 3-month bank deposit / bank book / statement / eStatement / online transaction history in Hong Kong (showing your name, account number and transaction history), or regularly monthly rental income credited to your bank account and the signed tenancy agreement

If you've already submitted your application for a credit card, you can upload the supporting documents for it via our online form.

Once we've received your application and supporting documents, we'll process your application within 10 working days. If your application is approved, we'll send you your new credit card within 3-5 working days, subject to postal service availability.

Finance charges
